WHO NEEDS TO ATTEND

A thorough understanding of story structure is essential for key creatives in the film and television industry, whether you are a writer, director, producer, or even editor. When you are going to pitch your project, the producer or executive may refer to structural paradigms, and it will help your chances if you speak the same language. This does not mean that you have to actually use all these methods in your writing.

INTERACTIVE VS PASSIVE PARTICIPATION

The first 50 registrants will be invited to the zoom sessions, where you can ask questions via audio (i.e. interactive students). Any additional registrations will receive the link to a private YouTube channel where you can follow the live masterclass, and ask questions via chat (or watch it later; i.e. passive students).

Karel Seger’s Immersion Masterclass program is an exhilarating experience for any writer. I have done the Immersion course three times now… and each time I am rewarded with a deeper and richer understanding of the writing process which includes techniques, tools, insights and method. This course is not about the theory. It is a practical course where you learn by doing. You immerse yourself in the writing process and the writer’s paradigm. I have found that it helps unleash my creativity, motivate and discipline my practice of writing, and build my skills and confidence as a writer.

For me, this course is groundbreaking because what it does is get you writing. The weekly Masterclasses are about distilling down and understanding script writing theory, but by the end of the course, Immersion does something more, it helps change the way your brain works. Crazy I know but I reckon it really manifests habit, routine and confidence and most of all, a sense that it’s possible to knock out my own script. I love the reverse writing aspect too, because it gets you writing like a professional.

I found the structured component of the Immersion Course along with Karel Segers’ passion for and knowledge about screenwriting in the Masterclasses a winning combination! This is an excellent hands-on course to help you understand script structure and format, and also to gain insight into the important elements of a great screen story.

Taking Karel’s Immersion Screenwriting course was one of the best decisions I’ve made in film education. The innovative hands-on approach submerges participants in the art and craft of screen writing and storytelling. Karel is a passionate teacher with a deep commitment to the learning experience of his students. His weekly online meetings provide a goldmine of information on story telling techniques and a forum for participants to exchange ideas. In these sessions, participants receive mentoring not only from Karel but also from seasoned and award-winning screenwriters, who continue to support them outside this scope.

An invaluable bonus of this program is the opportunity to become part of Karel’s established screenwriting / storytelling community, where I can receive insights and support from the community or exchange ideas with others.

I had produced and/or directed documentaries and comedy shorts, and this class gives me the confidence to develop my story ideas into a feature length fictional screenplay. Whether you aspire to improve your craft as a screenwriter, director, producer or actor, a good understanding of screenwriting would be greatly advantageous. If you are a corporate communicator, this class will help you apply storytelling techniques to tell compelling stories about your company.
